About Me
Hello! My name is Avery (she/her), and I’m a fully remote therapist here at Arrive. As queer people, we are often forced to experience our life stories without much opportunity to take a step back and process them. My goal as your counselor is to not only give you the space to hear your story out loud and in context, but to help you feel confident in your role as the author.
Throughout our sessions, we will take a look at your story, try to understand how the chapters so far have led you to where you are now, and create a toolkit of creative and tailored skills to help you reach your therapeutic goals. When not at work, I can usually be found writing poetry, recording music, spending time in nature, or binging TV shows with my boyfriend and our cat.
Depression
Grief
Anxiety (personal, interpersonal, and political)

Coping with complex trauma

Why I Became A Therapist
“Be the person you needed when you were younger” is a phrase that comes to mind when I consider what brought me here. Seeking therapy as a neurodivergent queer teen was frustrating (to say the least), and by the time a third therapist told me something along the lines of “maybe you want to transition because you think it’s cool and defiant”, I knew change wouldn’t come until more queer people were on the therapist’s side of the session. All of this led to where I am now; and my great privilege of getting to work within the community that guided me through my own transition.

Resources I often share with clients.
Understanding gender dysphoria and providing the right support can make a significant difference in the lives of those experiencing it. Gender dysphoria, characterized by a profound discomfort with one’s assigned gender at birth, requires compassionate and effective therapeutic approaches. This post explores Gender-Affirming Therapy in Paoli, PA, highlighting the best types of therapy for gender dysphoria, how to support someone going through it, and the stages of treatment involved.
LGBTQ-affirming therapy offers a safe, inclusive space for individuals to explore their identities, process emotional challenges, and build resilience. For gay men, therapy can be a transformative experience, addressing unique pressures such as navigating societal stigma, managing relationships, and coping with mental health challenges like depression.
Supporting a transgender child can be both rewarding and challenging, especially when you’re unsure where to turn for help. Utilizing resources for trans kids and for yourself as a parent or caretaker can make a significant impact on your journey.
Arrive Therapy offers a comprehensive range of support services for transgender, non-binary, and gender-questioning individuals through their trans and non-binary groups. These groups provide a safe and inclusive space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community to explore their gender identity, navigate the challenges of transitioning, and receive support from experienced therapists and peers.
