About Me
Hi! My name's Evan (he/him). Outside of the office, I'm a nerd! I like playing D&D, watching streamers on Twitch, playing cozy video games, and cross-stitching.
As a transgender and queer person, I want to embody the idea that queer doesn't have one defined "look." Given my various identities as a disabled queer person of color, I can empathize with anyone who feels "othered." Through a person-centered lens, I guide my clients in becoming their most authentic selves. I help clients write the story of their lives where they shape their main character energy to propel them into a future they thrive in."

Why I Am A Therapist
I'm the therapist that I needed when I was younger. Growing up, I didn't have the language for the things I was feeling and thinking. I went through life feeling broken and wrong. I want to help my clients realize their true beauty and wholeness because of, not in spite of, their identities. I know that now, more than ever, mental health is needed. I think my knowledge around marginalized communities, like LGBTQ+, kink, polyamory and chronic illness, give me valuable insight. My client doesn't need to feel like they're educating me on their identity, but rather, they feel seen and supported by someone who "gets it."
Modalities (at a glance)
-
assessing the main areas of distress or dysfunction and changing how these problems are being cognitively processed by challenging your negative thought patterns, emotions, and behavior to effectively cope with symptoms brought on from mental health conditions
-
your autonomy and goals are the main priority in sessions, empowering you to make decisions, bring up topics at your own pace and allowing you to steer the session based on your needs and values
-
looking at your life from a birds-eye view to follow patterns of behavior, notice inconsistencies and allow you to see yourself from an āoutsideā perspective to inform decision making and encourage self-analysis
-
expanding your window of tolerance by practicing skills and techniques to manage uncomfortable or upsetting emotions by strengthening your ability to sit in discomfort, cope, accept what is out of your control, and make positive behavioral changes for what IS within your control
-
understanding how traumatic experiences have impacted your understanding of the world, the people in it, and how you āfunctionā in response to these perceptions
-
Mindfulness-Based Approaches to therapy are evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral therapies that combine traditional meditation practices with psychotherapy techniques. They focus on developing non-judgmental, present-moment awareness of thoughts and physical sensations, helping clients break automatic, negative thought patterns.

What to Expect (first 1ā2 sessions)
In our first session, we get to know each other!
It can be strange to open up to a complete stranger all your deepest, darkest secrets and fears. We focus on establishing a safe connection. We establish boundaries and expectations. We schedule regular appointments to ensure you have a space just for you.
In our second session, we collaborate to make a plan:
What concerns do you want to tackle first?
How have you coped so far?
Who and what are your supports?
How I Work
-
No judgment here! I invite clients into a space where there is no "good" or "bad." Whatever a client thinks is bad, I invite with open arms to meet them with tenderness and understanding.
-
Therapy is a safe space, but not just because I say so. I work with clients to create a warm and safe environment that is conducive to their healing and exploration.
-
I meet a client where they are, making therapy a space where we work together to create sustainable practices

Resources I often share with clients.
Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit is one of the most important steps in starting therapy. For men, this process can sometimes feel particularly challengingāespecially if youāre looking specifically for a male therapist. Whether youāre seeking support for mental health, relationship challenges, or navigating identity, having a therapist who understands your unique perspective can make a significant difference.
Offering unwavering support for trans kids begins with the most fundamental expression of care: telling them you love them unconditionally. For parents wondering, āHow can I support my trans child?ā reassuring your child of your love is essential.
When a child comes out as trans, they often experience a range of emotions, including fear, uncertainty, and anxiety about how their family will react. For many, this journey comes with concerns about whether they will be accepted and supported. By telling your child, āI love you for who you are,ā you provide the emotional foundation they need to feel secure and valued as they explore their identity.
LGBTQ-affirming therapy offers a safe, inclusive space for individuals to explore their identities, process emotional challenges, and build resilience. For gay men, therapy can be a transformative experience, addressing unique pressures such as navigating societal stigma, managing relationships, and coping with mental health challenges like depression. By working with a therapist for gay men, clients can feel validated and supported in their journey toward self-acceptance.
Understanding gender identity can feel like a journey into a world full of rich and diverse experiences. At its heart, gender identity is about who you know yourself to be, beyond just the labels society might put on you. Itās a deeply personal part of who we are, and expressing it can be a powerful way to connect with yourself and the world around you.
