Mark participated in the Stonewall riots and was one of the original founders of the Gay Liberation Front and then later the Gay Raiders.

The Gay Raiders roots began here in Philadelphia. Their carefully executed disruptions to gain public attention for LGBTQ+ discrimination, including interrupting a live Walter Cronkite broadcast, are absolutely legendary.

Mark is the author of the book "And Then I Danced: Traveling the Road to LGBTQ Equality" which shows how he plays a pivotal role in lgbtq+ history.
