Why I Became A Therapist

I became a therapist because I deeply believe that every person — especially children and teenagers — deserves to have someone genuinely in their corner. Too many young people navigate their hardest moments without a trusted adult who truly sees them, listens without judgment, and helps them make sense of what they're feeling. My work is driven by a commitment to being that steady, compassionate presence for the kids and individuals who need it most.

How I Work

I work in a straightforward manner.

I believe you should leave each therapy session with something tangible — a new insight, a new skill — because every session should move the needle toward your goals, the life you want to live, and the way you want to feel.

I will challenge you, nurture you, and offer meaningful insight along the way.

I will ask you the tough questions and encourage you to make concrete changes between sessions.

And I will be right there with you, sharing in both your joys and your sorrows.

What to Expect

(First 1–2 sessions)

In our intake session, I will gather as much information about you as possible to paint a full picture of who you are, what you are struggling with, your background and upbringing, and what you hope to get out of therapy — and much more.

In the sessions that follow, we will dive right in to working on your goals, exploring wherever you feel comfortable. As we build trust over time, we will be able to work more deeply and tackle topics that may have felt too difficult to address at the start.

Resources I often share with clients.

The use of singular "they/them" pronouns to refer to individuals who identify as non-binary or gender non-conforming is becoming increasingly common. A recent study examined how the adoption of these pronouns is impacting language and societal perceptions of gender.

Directed by Julie Cohen, "Every Body" examines the trauma that many intersex people experience, but ultimately provides a feel-good take on the community.

LGBTQ-affirming therapy offers a safe, inclusive space for individuals to explore their identities, process emotional challenges, and build resilience. For gay men, therapy can be a transformative experience, addressing unique pressures such as navigating societal stigma, managing relationships, and coping with mental health challenges like depression.

Understanding gender identity is a journey into a world full of rich and diverse experiences. At its heart, gender identity is about who you know yourself to be, beyond just the labels society might put on you. It’s a deeply personal part of who we are, and expressing it can be a powerful way to connect with yourself and the world around you.
